Arngunnur Árnadóttir is a musician and writer.

After studying with Ralf Forster and Wenzel Fuchs at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin she was appointed as principal clarinetist of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in 2012.

Arngunnur has performed as a soloist with conductors such as Daníel Bjarnason and Cornelius Meister. Critic of Fréttablaðið newspaper described her performance of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto 2015 in the following words: “among the most beautiful things I have heard in a long time […] this was a wonderful performance.” Arngunnur has performed as a chamber musician in festivals Podium Festival Iceland and Reykjavík Midsummer Music and with artists such as Sæunn Þorsteinsdóttir, Ben Kim, Skúli Sverrisson and Víkingur Ólafsson.

Arngunnur’s first book, Unglingar, was published in March 2013. Her first novel, Að heiman, was awarded the Grassroots Grant of the Icelandic Literature Center in 2015 and published in 2016.
